Nothing here assesses a hazard or certifies an assembly. What this site is, and what it is not.

Key point

CrossConnect introduces and tests nothing. It is not a certified tester or a water purveyor, it is not party to any agreement you reach, and it makes no hazard assessment of any installation.

CrossConnect is a referral service, not a contractor. We connect property owners and managers with independent contractors. Backflow assembly testing is normally restricted to testers holding a specific certification and using calibrated equipment, and the report usually has to reach your water purveyor — ask to see the certification and ask who files the report. We carry out no testing, we certify nobody, we do not set prices, and we never charge callers anything. Nothing here selects a device for any installation or states that any assembly is passing.

The offer

CrossConnect is an introduction service. We connect property owners and managers with independent contractors. We are not a party to any agreement you reach with a contractor or a tester, we do not supervise their work and we do not guarantee it.

What the technical material is and is not

It describes what EPA’s Cross-Connection Control Manual defines and records: the two backflow mechanisms, the device families and what each is approved against, the air gap dimension, the hazard terminology, and documented incidents.

It is not a hazard assessment of any installation, not a selection of a device for any connection, and not a statement of what any local ordinance requires. Those determinations belong to your water purveyor and plumbing official. Requirements and standards are amended; read them at the source.

And nothing here is about water quality

This site is about the direction water can travel and the devices that govern it. Nothing on it is a statement about what is in anybody’s drinking water or about anybody’s health, and no page should be read as one. Questions of that kind go to your water system and to a certified laboratory.

Know what is on the tag before you call.Make, model, size and the date of the last test are usually stamped or tagged on the assembly itself, and they decide which test kit and which paperwork the visit needs. We will route you to somebody who covers your area, selected on the ZIP code of the property, and you are never charged. Backflow is our specialty, though the number will take any plumbing request on the property.
